Thank you for saying what I want to say. The fact that this kind of outrageous comments comes from one of the Tiananmen Square leaders shocks me. Frankly, if China is brutal towards the Uyghurs–not mentioning the affirmative action benefits that the Uyghurs receive from the government–then what of the Russians to the Tartars and Caucasians, Americans to the Native Americans, French to the Huguenots, Indians to the Dalits and Muslims…? I could go on and on. It is absolutely outrageous to see the Uyghurs praised for looting, killing, wrecking havoc on the streets. Is this democracy? Should we promote violence? Should any government in the world surrender brutal mob behaviour? If the student protesters on that fateful day in 1989 were half as brutal as the Uyghur rioters, what would you expect the government response be?
And please, do realize that the average Han Chinese has nothing against the Uyghurs. We value property, liberty, and life as much as anyone else.
